藝術家簡介

村上隆(1962年2月1日)，是上世紀60年代以後出生的日本藝術家中極具影響力的一位。他是受日本動畫和日本漫畫影響而專註於禦宅族文化和生活方式的後現代藝術風格 – 超扁平(superflat)運動創始人。其靈感源自眾多古怪的浮世繪藝術家和金田伊功（Yoshinori Kanada）1983年的動畫作品《Harmagedon》。1996年他在東京創辦了HIROPON工廠，之後演化成現時的Kaikai Kiki有限公司，一所大型藝術生產的藝術管理公司。該公司始於2002年起於東京及2009於台灣舉行藝祭「GEISAI」─ 每年舉辦2次，目的為替藝術創作者提供曝光的管道。

他曾於多個世界著名的展覽場地舉行展覽，包括2001年在東京當代藝術館、2002年在倫敦蛇型藝廊、2007年洛杉磯當代藝術館及2008年紐約布魯克林博物館等。2003年他為路易•威登創作出彩色圖案皮具，將其個人藝術事業推至高峰。現時，他為加州大學洛杉磯分校擔任客席教授。村上隆的作品既融合了東方傳統與西方文明，高雅藝術與通俗文化之間的對立元素，同時又保留了其作品的娛樂性和觀賞性，是一種結合了日本當代流行卡通藝術與傳統日本繪畫風格特點的產物。

他的作品一致性的呈現他對動漫現象的評論，其中最能代表他個人風格的主題或許非Mr. DOB莫屬；Mr. DOB是村上隆創作出來的卡通人物，已經變成了他個人的代名词。Mr. DOB創造於1993年，外型结合了知名的電玩人物音速小子和多啦Ａ夢；这兩個卡通人物剛好都有藍色的身軀，和白色的腹部。此外，他的名字Mr. DOB源自日本大眾文化… 在此多種元素組合起來下它就變成了這個酷似米老鼠的混合體，右耳寫着D，左耳寫着B，兩耳中間夾着微笑的臉蛋，腦袋正好是一個O。它有着各種各樣的笑容，有時看上去非常可愛，有時又面目猙獰，在它刻意天真的外表下，维持着典型日本卡通角色的大眼睛風格。Mr. DOB才創作沒多就已衍生出多元豐富的形態、色彩和臉部表情包羅萬象。
