王廣義
藝術家簡介
王廣義，1957年生於中國哈爾濱市，1984年畢業於浙江美術學院油畫系，現居北京，職業藝術家。 他是 1989年新藝術運動的領導者。其一系列題為《大批判系列》的畫作是把中國文化大革命(1966-1976)的圖騰及美國波普藝術元素融合，並進一步結合美國流行文化中新一輪的商品主義及消費主義等元素，以反映中國當代的社會狀況。
在過去20年間，中國的藝術文化漸趨商業化，藝術家的財富及社會地位亦提升。2005年，王廣義的《大批判系列》畫作以1.08百萬人民幣出售，其售價為當代藝術品市場刷新了新記錄。2007年12月在英國倫敦的拍賣會中，王廣義以 2,036,000英磅賣出其於1988年創作的毛澤東概念畫作，因而被外界視他為「製作藝術的工具」。
