Inauguration of “Dialogue with Japanese Contemporary Art” Exhibition
(Macau . June 6) Organized by two contemporary art galleries, Macpro Gallery from Macau and gallery UG from Tokyo, Japan, the exhibition “Dialogue with Japanese Contemporary Art” was inaugurated at the Macpro Gallery on June 6. The exhibition displayed paintings and sculptures from eleven emerging artists from Japan. Through the works from these young promising artists, viewers can experience the essence of contemporary art and the cultural uniqueness of Japan.
The inauguration was carried out in a fun but traditional Japanese manner by breaking the sake barrel with hammers. Officiating guests including President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macau, Mr. Ung Vai Meng; President of Macpro Gallery, Mr. Yany Kwan; President of gallery UG, Mr. Eiichiro Sasaki from Japan; Mr. Gekko Numata and Mr. Kunihiko Nohara, talented artists from Japan.
Gallery owner Mr. Yany Kwan expressed that although Macau and Japan may possess different cultural background and history, both share similar views on art and originality. A multifunctional art space such as Macpro Gallery is important in serving artists as a platform to showcase their creativity on art, all in the spirit to promote the vision that "art is life".
